Help & Frequently Asked Questions
If you can't find an answer to your question here, please email us at info@pawtrax.co.uk or call 0701 PAWTRAX
What is PawTrax™?
PawTrax™ is the soon to be premier website for the reporting and searching of lost, found and stolen pets in the UK.
There are many sites on the web that cater for dogs only, we lend a helping hand to all pets - with or without paws.
PawTrax™ is the first pet website to use Google maps to display the results as icons on a map and also as a means of entering reports.
Where does PawTrax™ get its reports from?
Owners, PawTrackers™, Vets and other lost/found pet websites all send reports directly to us to name a few.
Using state of the art web technologies we also automatically scan the web for reports on a daily basis and add them to our site - something we think is unique to us.
We like to see ourselves as the Google of lost/found pet search engines.
Why do I have to register?
Registration helps to ensure that we only receive genuine reports and prevents 'spammers' from sending us rouge reports.
All we need from you is your name and email address. You have the option of providing more details about yourself if you wish.
How do I register?
Just click on the 'Register' link on the right hand side of the navigation bar. You will then be presented with a form for completion. After submitting this form you will receive an email from us asking you for verification that it was you that requested registration (this avoids others registering in your name/email without you knowing).
Just click on the link in the verification email and you will then be able to login.
I haven't received a verification email?
This sometimes happens if your ISP mistakenly deletes these types of verification emails as spam. If you have not received an email within a few minutes let us know by emailing us at info@pawtrax.co.uk and we will manually verify you.
Is registration free?
Yes it is and always will be
Does it cost anything to make a report?
No. It is completely free to report a lost, found or stolen pet to PawTrax™.
Who do you send an e-alert to?
We use state of the art technology to search 'Yellow Pages' for the email addresses of any possible parties that we feel could help spread the word.
The categories that we run a search on are: Animal Welfare Societies, Boarding Kennels, Catteries, Dog Breeders, Dog & Cat Grooming, Dog Training, Dog Walking, Home and Pet Sitting, Pet Services, Pet Shops, Riding Schools, Stables and Veterinary Surgeons.
We then send an email, with details of the report, to all of these parties.
What else do you do?
We also post details to our Blog, which in turn updates our RSS feeds, which in turn feeds the latest reports to our live updating banners.
Is this service free?
At the moment we send emails to all parties in the reported postcode area as displayed by 'Yellow Pages' following a search completely free of charge.
In the near future we hope to provide a national service for a small fee. We are also considering providing a service whereby we contact local newspapers, radio and TV stations etc - watch this space!!
Sometimes not all reports seem to display on the map.
This can sometimes happen and can be dealt with by either refreshing the page or zooming in or out of the the map using the + or - slider buttons on screen.
I have done a search and nothing is displayed on the map, but I know there should be?
Again this sometimes happens. Before running a search we recommend that you zoom out completely to display the whole of the UK.
I work in a vets surgery, can I send in reports?
Of course. We are aware that vet surgeries carry a 'lost and found' book where they record reports. We would love it if you used PawTrax™ instead. You only have to register once and then you can send in as many reports as you want and have the ability to update and delete as and when you need to.
